The Bethel Pilots track and field team is pleased to announce that former all-American and former assistant coach John-Wesley Maierle has come back to BC to rejoin the track and field staff. After four-and-a-half seasons coaching alongside Coach Tony Natali, Maierle took a position at Olivet Nazarene University last winter as a full-time staff member for the Tigers to close out the 2016 spring season. Maierle retook his post at BC on July 1st.

With the end of the men's and women's outdoor track and field season, the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced last week that 753 total student-athletes have been named NAIA Scholar-Athletes, and among those honored are six members of the Bethel men's track and field team and five from the women's team.

The Bethel Pilots track and field team finished the 2016 NAIA Outdoor National Championships on Saturday with a pair of all-American performances, which led to the best finish in the history of the men's program. After three full days, the BC men tallied 16 team points for a 20th-place finish. This edged the program's previous best finish of 15 points for a 21st-place finish from 2006.

On Friday, the Pilots picked up their third all-American at the 2016 NAIA Outdoor Track and Field National Championships with the highest place finish of the meet thus far. Junior Elias Micozzi is making a habit of breaking the school record and did it for the third consecutive meet with a toss of 56.96 meters.
