With the Crossroads League season coming to a close, the Bethel Pilots baseball team is focused on securing a spot in the postseason tournament. Thursday's doubleheader against Saint Francis was set up to tell a big part of the postseason story for Pilots as USF and BC entered the day tied at 8-16 in league play, sitting in a tie for seventh place. Needing to claim at least a split to keep their playoff hopes alive, Bethel took game one from USF 4-2 but then fell in the nightcap 2-5. Both teams move to 9-17 in league play and remain knotted in seventh place in league standings.

Baseball traveled to Huntington University on Tuesday evening and came home with a split against the Foresters. The Pilots won in dramatic fashion in the opener, finishing with a final score of 3-2.  They then fell in the nightcap 2-6. BC is now 12-24 on the campaign and 8-16 in Crossroads League play and are tied in league standings for seventh place with four games remaining.

Bethel baseball competed in two close contests on the road at Marian University on Saturday but were unable to earn a win as they fell 3-5 and 4-5 to the Knights. The Pilots fall to 11-23 on the season and 7-15 in Crossroads League play. Their league mark of 7-15 puts them currently in eighth place in league standings with six Crossroads League games left on the schedule.

It was an exciting night of baseball between the Pilots and Knights of Marian University on Friday. Even with 14 innings scheduled in the doubleheader between the squads, the fans in attendance got more than expected when the first game on the docket went into extra innings. BC cut the extended ballgame short, winning the contest in the eighth inning 11-8. However, the good fortune did not spill over into game two as MU ran away with the nightcap 9-4. BC moves to 11-21 on the season and 7-13 in Crossroads League play while Marian now sits at 11-14 overall and 10-10 in league action.
