South Bend, Ind. – The Bethel women's cross country team finished 12th out of 18 in the Bethel Invitational on Friday afternoon. Seven Pilots ran collegiate personal records as the Pilots finished with a season-best team time of 1:42:22.
Mariah King (FR/Middlebury, Ind.) led the Pilots with a personal-record 19:59. Jessica Duvall (SO/Mishawaka, Ind.) finished shortly after at 20:23, while Breann Fawcett (SR/Fort Wayne, Ind.) (20:37), Anna Nisen (SO/Goshen, Ind.) (20:40), and Molly Campbell (SO/Middlebury, Ind.) (20:41) rounded out the top five for the Pilots with personal records.
Rebecca Maynard (SO/Jackson, Mich.) and Vanessa Steiner (SO/Elkhart, Ind.), with a season-best 21:14, placed 6th and 7th for the Pilots on the afternoon. Faith Mooney (SR/Russiaville, Ind.), Lorraine Gamble (SO/Sweetser, Ind.), and Kerri Clark (FR/Mishawaka, Ind.) also ran personal records.
The Pilots finished with a one-thru-five gap time of only 42 seconds.
"We continue to make good progression throughout the season," stated Head Coach Ryan Sommers. "A great workout on Wednesday led into several personal records with only one-day recovery, which is exciting. I really love the culture on this team and am excited to see what happens in the next month or so with the coming meets, especially with how well they are using the group running."
The Pilots compete in 18 intercollegiate sports for men and women. The Bethel College Athletic Department earned the NAIA Champion of Character Five-Star Gold Institution and produced 17 NAIA Scholar-Teams last season. While accumulating 3 NAIA National Championships and 32 NCCAA National Championships by 10 different athletic teams, Bethel has also produced 143 NAIA All-American honors and 309 NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors over the past decade.
