Anderson, Ind. - The Bethel women's soccer team traveled to Anderson to take on NCAA D-III Anderson University and suffered a 2-1 defeat on Saturday afternoon. The loss drops the Pilots to 1-3-2 on the season.
The Pilots created many scoring opportunities on the day but were unable to take advantage, until Ana Molina (FR/South Bend, Ind.) netted her fourth goal in as many games in the 84th minute. By then, the Ravens had found the net twice and held on for a 2-1 win on their home turf.
The Pilots held the Ravens scoreless in the first 45 but the Ravens struck early in the second half as Katie Frazier snuck one past Tessa Zimmerly (SO/Shipshewana, Ind.) in the 57th minute to take a 1-0 lead. The Ravens continued the attack in the 66th minute as Tori Baver gave her team a 2-0 lead.
Molina's fourth goal in as many games and her second in the final eight minutes of regulation, was assisted by Sophia Bell (FR/Oxford, Mich.) but was not enough and the Pilots dropped their third decision of the season. The Pilots got 5 shots on goal but were denied four of them. Zimmerly notched five saves for the Pilots in the defeat.
"We didn't end up with the result we wanted, but I thought we created a lot of dangerous opportunities and just couldn't quite find the equalizer," stated Head Coach Jamie Lindvall.
The Pilots await their next contest on Wednesday as they host Rochester (Mich.) for a non-conference matchup at Morey Field and a 5:00 pm kick-off.
