St. Anne, Ill. - The Bethel women's golf team returned to the links after two weeks off and finished 3rd out of 9 overall at the two-day ONU Invitational at Kankakee Elks CC hosted by Olivet Nazarene.
The Pilots started the day in 4th place after posting a 342 during Friday's round. Despite posting a 330 during the final round on Saturday afternoon, the Pilots improved to a spot to finish top three behind No. 17 William Penn and No. 22 Bellevue.
Jaycee Bunner (JR/Fort Wayne, Ind.) finished with scores of 82 and 80 over the weekend, giving her 3rd place overall. Brooke Thomas (SO/Flushing, Mich.) shot 85-80 and finished 5th place overall. Both Bunner and Thomas were named to the All-Tournament Team.
The Pilots return home to host the Battle at Blackthorn at Blackthorn Golf Club in South Bend next Friday and Saturday. The event is also the NCCAA North Central Regional qualifier. Tee time is set for 12:00 pm on Friday and 9:00 am on Saturday.
The Bethel College Pilots compete in 18 intercollegiate sports for men and women. While accumulating 3 NAIA National Championships and 32 NCCAA National Championships by 10 different athletic teams, Bethel has also produced 143 NAIA All-American honors and 309 NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors over the past decade.
