Mishawaka, Indiana –Bethel College women's tennis is excited to announce that Grace Haley from Williamston, Michigan and Lansing Christian High School has signed a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic career at Bethel College beginning in the fall of 2017, where she will also be competing for the Lady Pilots women's basketball team.
Haley, daughter of Matthew and Victoria Haley, played #1 singles for Lansing Christian as a sophomore, junior, and senior (a team captain), compiling a three year record of 48-8. For her senior season, Grace finished with a 19-3 record. She was honored by the Lansing State Journal as one of the top 5 players in the area on the "Dream Team". She was the Division IV (28-4) Regional #1 Singles Champion and qualified for the Michigan State Tennis Championships. Grace finished in the top 16 in each of the last three seasons in the state of Michigan. She is the only player in Lansing Christian School history to qualify for the Michigan State Championships and also to capture a #1 position Regional tennis singles title.
On the basketball court, Haley averaged 17.3 points and 10.3 rebounds per game for the Lansing Christian Pilgrims girls' basketball team, scoring over 1,000 points in her career.
"After visiting Bethel, I immediately fell in love with the Christian atmosphere and small campus feel," noted Haley. "The coaching staff treated me with kindness and respect right away, and I knew I wanted to be a part of what they were building. I am excited about being part of a Christian college and tennis and basketball programs. I can't wait for the future to come!"
The Bethel College Pilots compete in 17 intercollegiate sports for men and women. While accumulating 3 NAIA National Championships and 32 NCCAA National Championships by 10 different athletic teams, Bethel has also produced 143 NAIA All-American honors and 309 NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors over the past decade.
