The Bethel men's tennis team completed their spring season by going 4-2, raising their overall record to 6-12 for the 2016-17 campaign. The six victories were the most the men's program has achieved since the 2011-12 season when the Pilots registered eight wins.
BC was led by sophomore Jacob Macri, who posted an undefeated mark at number one singles position. Macri finished the campaign 12-6 overall. Additionally, senior, Luke Prude went 3-2 at number one doubles; Jose Morales recorded a mark of 4-2 in doubles this spring; senior, Brad Foster also went 4-2 in doubles action; Sidney Petersen registered a mark of 4-1 playing number three doubles; and freshman, Brian Shembarger enjoyed a fine spring, going 4-2 in both singles and doubles this spring.
The Pilots also received some impressive individual honors this spring. Jacob Macri earned NCCAA North Central All-Region Team honors for the second consecutive year. Jacob was also named a second team NCCAA All-American. Junior, Chad VanDosen was named an NAIA and an NCCAA Scholar-Athlete.
Director of Tennis, John Natali, commented: "Coach Dendiu and I were very pleased to see a great deal of improvement from top to bottom of our lineup this spring. And the results reflected that improvement. We are losing some experienced seniors from this year's squad, but with the addition of a number of quality freshmen joining the program in the fall, we are anticipating continued growth for the men's team in 2017-18."
