The Bethel College men's and women's tennis teams hosted the 10th annual Bethel College Tennis Alumni Event on Saturday afternoon on the Bethel courts. And a beautiful afternoon made for a great event as 19 former players returned for the activities.
The match-ups between the current crop of Bethel tennis players and the returning alums were generally focused on men's, women's, and mixed doubles action. However, there were a few who also played some singles sets as well. And in addition, the day's activities wrapped up with some tennis drills – "Running Doubles" and "Speedy Gonzalez" – where many current and returning players participated with great enthusiasm.
Alumni from the men's program who were able to attend the event included Josh Kiefer, Joel Dendiu, Nathan Baker, Tim Long, Joe Rallo, John Dendiu, Dario Garza, Jason Gingerich and Mikael Dodge. And alumni from the women's program included Lindsey Kiefer, Missy Wise, Jessica Edmonds, Bree Oles, Amy Grubbs, Jill Bishop, Morgan McFarren, Abbie Mast, Sarah Hamman and Robin Braun.
"This event has been growing each year," stated Bethel coach, John Natali. "And this year, we enjoyed another great turn-out as we welcomed back to campus many former tennis student-athletes. It's really satisfying to see our current Pilots and Lady Pilots interact with former players who can share their stories and experiences with each other. Overall, we were blessed with an awesome day of tennis, food and fellowship."
The Bethel men and women will now return to action on Wednesday, September 18th when they will host Grace College in a Crossroads League match. Play will begin at 1:00pm at Baker Park in Mishawaka.
