The Bethel College women's tennis team will open their 2013 spring season with a home match on Saturday, April 6th when they will host Indiana Tech beginning at 12:30pm on the Bethel courts. The Lady Pilots are scheduled to play four matches this spring before competing in the NCCAA North Central Regional April 19-20 in Bourbonnais, IL.
The fall season for the Lady Pilots was an extremely successful one as they registered an 11-4 record and placed third in the Crossroads League. However, the team is far from satisfied with that achievement as they now set their sights on the up-coming spring season and hopefully a berth in the NCCAA National Championship Tournament in Mobile, Alabama in May.
Molly O'Grady, Whitney Neuenschwander, Bethany Blodgett, Melissa Ramer and Jill Focht will once again be counted on to lead the team this spring. Taryn Johnson, Samantha Lukas and Jessica Steensma will also play key roles in the team's success. Kelsey Stichter hopes to return to her early season form before an injury sidelined her in the fall. And Morgan McFarren will be a key contributor whenever possible as she concludes her student teaching responsibilities this spring. In addition, freshman Lillian Anderson also will continue to challenge for playing time as she continues to develop for the Lady Pilots.
"Our ladies had a great fall season," stated coach, John Natali. "We received outstanding play from the girls up and down the line-up. We now want to use these few spring matches to bring our level of play back to where we were in October so that we'll be ready to compete at NCCAA Regionals and then hopefully at Nationals in Mobile."
