It was a tough evening for the Pilots on the volleyball court as they dropped two games today at the University of Michigan Dearborn tournament. The Pilots had a challenging scheduled facing #25 IU East who already handed the Pilots their first loss of the season last weekend, and Trinity Christian who were the NCCAA National Runners-up last season.

In the first contest, the Pilots applied pressure to the Red Wolves, but couldn't break through. The Pilots had opportunities yet couldn't capitalize and eventually surrendered in 3; 21-25, 16-25, and 24-26. Leading the way for the Bethel was junior Alicia Carlton with 11 kills and senior Lindsay Marks who had 26 assists.

In the day's finale BC clashed with the Trolls of Trinity Christian. The Pilots had a tough task ahead of them as TC has host of talented players led by 2011 NCCAA All-Americans Jessica Wiltjer and Kaitlin Feddema. The experience of the Trolls was too much for Pilots. In a 4 set game the BC came up short, 18-25, 26-28, 25-19 and 25-18.

Coach Kevin Ulmer noted, "We have to finish games when we have opportunities. We have proven that we can play with very talented teams but that means nothing when the game ends in a loss."

In day two of the UMD Invite Bethel will meet the Grey Wolves of Lourdes College (4-3) and the University of St. Francis of Illinois Fighting Saints (2-0).
