Jessica Ewen, a 1B/3B from Webber International University/DeLand H.S., has committed to continue her next two years as at Bethel College in Mishawaka, IN. Jessica was a multi-sport athlete at Deland H.S. then pitched and played 1B for Webber International University.
"I am so excited to have Jessica as a Pilot for the next two years," said Bethel College Head Softball Coach Megan Smalley. "I believe her strength as a hitter will prove beneficial in our lineup and I can see her making an impact not only at the plate, but also on the field."
While playing two years at Webber International University, Jessica went 2-2 from the mound with a 3.99 ERA. With a 0.253 batting average, Jessica cranked out 20 hits, 14 RBIs, and a 0.329 slugging average. At Deland H.S., she earned a varsity letter for softball during her junior and senior year, getting named Best Offensive Player (junior year) and Best Defensive Player (senior year).
"I knew as soon as I spent a day at Bethel, it was the college for me," said Jessica. "Especially when I spent a couple days with the softball team and felt like I was at home. The girls play hard and represent Bethel College well. I hope to contribute to Bethel as much as the students and athletes do."
