The Bethel College Softball team clinched their sixth regular season MCC Championship in seven years with the 9-0 and 14-3 doubleheader sweep of visiting Grace College on Tuesday afternoon.

Giana Zimmerman made her first start in the pitching circle since starting the season opener back on February 27 and came away with the victory after throwing five innings while allowing just one hit and striking out eight.

Zimmerman's comeback start was supported by a Pilots' offense which blasted seven base hits including doubles by Katrina Klingberg, Brookelyn Smith, and Jenny Hedrick and a grand slam by Natalie Newell.

The offensive explosion continued in game two as the Pilots score 14 more runs highlighted by a eight run third inning which included a three run bomb by Brookelyn Smith.

Katrina Klingberg added another double as did Courtney Cazarez while Samantha Nikolich blasted her first collegiate home run in the fourth.

Table setters Holly Weaver and Kelsey Ericksen went a combined 5-6, each with a triple.

Kendra Zache earned the win by throwing five innings while allowing six hits and three runs (one earned).

The Pilots wrap up MCC play on Thursday with a "Senior Day" doubleheader with Taylor University starting a 3:00 pm in Mishawaka.
