Freshmen Natalie Newell was named the Mid-Central College Conference Pitcher of the Week for her performance last week.
Newell started and earned both wins for the Pilots on Thursday as they swept the University of Saint Francis. In game one she struck out 14 batters on her way to the complete game shutout. In game two she struck out nine while allowing only two hits and one earned run.
In addition to her dominance in the circle, Newell hit the game winning two run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to beat Saint Francis 3-1.
