The Bethel College baseball team lost both ends of a doubleheader to Grace College in Winona Lake, Ind. on Thursday afternoon.
The Pilots couldn't get much going offensively in the opener as they recorded five hits but were shutout 6-0 by Grace starter, Brad Heintz.
Game two was a different story as the Pilots belted nine hits and scored eight runs but fell victim to a huge seven run fifth inning for Grace to lose 9-8.
The seven run fifth for the Lancers contained a little bit of everything including fit hits, a dropped third strike, a hit by pitch, and wild pitch, a walk, two homeruns, and a passed ball which all led to the huge inning.
Ethan Zartman and Evan Pulliam each had excellent games offensively driving in two runs apiece. Zartman was 3-4 with two doubles while Pulliam went 2-5 and added two runs scored.
The Pilots will try to get back on track Saturday as they host perennial MCC title contenders Spring Arbor University for a double header starting at 1:00 pm.
